Aqua Fitness Classes

This low impact water workout will help participants increase endurance and muscular strength using the resistance of the water as well as equipment to tone, strengthen and stabilize the upper and lower body while increasing cardiovascular capacity. This is a great way to get a full-body workout.
Various classes (shallow water, deep water and a combination of both) are held at various times throughout the week. Times are subject to change. Please stop by the Host Desk, call (775) 832-1300 or visit our website for the most up to date schedule. This program is free for all Recreation Center members. Regular Recreation Center fees apply to non-members.
H20 Basics (55+ Friendly)
All ages
This Aqua Fitness class replaces Arthritis Water Fitness and offers a low impact way to help increase flexibility, range of motion. The class also focuses on cardiovascular endurance, mobility and muscle toning.

Aqua Fitness Personal Training
Ages: 18+
Training in the water provides a 3 dimensional variable resistance environment to strengthen the body and can accommodate any fitness level and most injury limitations. Strength, muscle endurance, cardiovascular endurance, range of motion and fat-burning elements of fitness can be a achieved simultaneously in the water with very little impact. Please call (775) 832-1350 to arrange for an appointment ($50/hour).
Lifeguard Training
American Red Cross Guard Start Class
Ages: 10-14 years
This class is designed to give youth a taste of what it will take to become a lifeguard in the future. This class will go over many safety training concepts that our certified staff use. Students will also get a chance to shadow guard for a shift during the summer. This class does not certify you as a lifeguard. Scholarships are available. Call (775) 832-1310 for details.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Class*
Ages: 15+
This class includes American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR for the professional, First Aid, & AED Certifications. All applicants must be able to pass a skills pre-requisite swim test. For more info, please call (775) 832-1321. Please bring a towel, suit, and writing materials to first class. Min 6 participants/max 20. Must attend all classes to be certified. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Class
Ages: 16+
Come and learn to be a water safety instructor and teach swim lessons to youth and adults! This class will break down each stroke and train you how to teach swimming to anyone. You will learn to incorporate creative teaching methods into learning aquatic skills! This class will also cover basic water safety techniques. Please bring extra towels and snacks since we will have only short breaks. You must be certified in CPR for the professional rescuer to be hired for IVGID aquatic staff. Get Flyer

* Adults are encouraged to enroll and apply for employment at the Recreation Center as a Lifeguard or Water Safety Instructor. If any adults are willing to commit 10 hours a week on a regular basis, IVGID will waive the registration fee for the class. Please call the Aquatics Office at (775) 832-1321 for details.
Aquatic Programs & Events
Incline Silver Stars Swim Team
Ages: 6+
Come join North Lake Tahoe’s premier swim team for both competitive and novice swimmers. The team has been practicing since February 2007 and continues to improve leaps and bounds while having loads of fun. Anyone who is interested in the swim team may try it for one week free of charge. The coach will evaluate appropriate level and practice times for each participant. Season parties & special events will be planned and announced during the course of the season. Scholarships that can equate savings of at least 29% are available (inquire at the Parks & Recreation Counter).

Stroke Clinics
Come and work on your strokes with us! We will use dry-land, in-water drills and exercises to improve your stroke technique and efficiency. Participants can choose to focus on four different competitive strokes or starts & turns. Video analysis will also be used to demonstrate efficiencies and deficiencies. Get the flyer!

Swim Around Tahoe
All ages
To complete this program you can swim in the pool, the lake or at whatever facility you desire. Write down your mileage and we track your progress on a large map of the lake. Upon completion of your 72 mile journey, you will receive a t-shirt and your name on “the finishers” plaque at the pool. Swim Around Tahoe is open to participants ages 14 and older or younger swimmers who are able to swim five continuous laps. Mileage is updated twice a month (mid and end of month).

Keep on Rollin’ (kayak practice time)
All ages
Bring your kayak, a cool paddle trick and your boating friends to the Recreation Center pool for roll practice. These sessions are open to boaters of all abilities. You provide your own gear – we provide the warm water! Three sets of gear are available for $10 per night – equipment reservations must be made prior to attending roll sessions. This is your practice time - no instructor is provided.

Dog Days of Fall
Hey dog lovers! Lets end the summer season with our four legged friends! IVGID will be hosting the 2nd annual Dog Days of Fall special event! This will be an opportunity to bring your pooch to the pool/beach for some water fun. We will have activities for the dogs to compete in such as: best trick, fastest swimmer, and of course the doggy belly flop contest! We will also have a variety of dog demonstrations and information to pass along. We will need local sponsors to help put on this great community event. If you are interested in sponsoring or volunteering please contact the Aquatics department at (775) 832-1321. Our grand finale of the summer will be our pet/owner costume contest. Prizes will be awarded so come and make a splash with your best four-legged friend!
